• Montco Jazz Fest marks its fifth year this month with live performances, family events, and workshops at venues across Montgomery County and King of Prussia. It is a great excuse to catch a show close to home.

• The 15th annual Bird and Wildlife Festival happens Saturday, September 26, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Green Lane Park, with live music, local vendors selling honey, soaps, and maple syrup, plus kids' activities.

• The Philadelphia TASTE! Festival of Food, Wine and Spirits returns Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia.

• The Montgomery County restaurant scene is thriving: Academy Grill opened in Fort Washington this spring, Rick's Tavern in Conshohocken, and Bart's Bagels in Bala Cynwyd. The Inquirer reports 100-plus new restaurants opened across the city and suburbs this year, and several are right in our own backyard.

• October foliage fans: Green Lane Park and Evansburg State Park are two favorite spots for fall color, with miles of trails for walking and biking without leaving the county.

• The Whitpain Township Community Festival returns Saturday, September 26, 2026, from noon to 8:00 PM in the Morris Road parking lot at Montgomery County Community College's Blue Bell campus. You will find vendors and a health expo, a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, pony rides and hayrides, children's games and inflatables, and food trucks, with a beer garden from 2:00 PM, live music starting at 3:30 PM, and fireworks to cap off the evening. It is free and open to all ages.

• The Blue Bell Horizons Celebration takes over the Manor House at Prophecy Creek Park (205 Skippack Pike) on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 5:30 PM. Hosted by the Charitable Foundation of the Rotary Club of Blue Bell, this ticketed evening blends live music, food, and drinks in a beautiful park setting.

• Normandy Farm Hotel and Conference Center continues its Crab Fest: Beer & BBQ Series with an evening on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 6:00 PM. It is a relaxed way to ease into fall with fresh seafood, cold pours, and the farm's classic countryside setting.

• The Wissahickon Valley Public Library's Blue Bell branch keeps a full fall calendar of free programs, from evening yoga and chess club to knitting circles and kids' story times. Check wvpl.org for the week-by-week schedule.

• Good news around town: construction is underway on the new inclusive playground at Mermaid Park (1002 Jolly Road), a new dog park recently opened nearby, and Whitpain Township was awarded over $1 million in state and federal funding for the Mermaid Park Connector Trail, a new pedestrian route that will make the area easier to explore on foot.

• The Ambler Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 9:00 AM to noon through October 31, 2026, at the corner of Butler and Maple Avenues (29 West Butler Pike, next to La Provence). With about two dozen vendors, it is the perfect place to stock up on produce, baked goods, and local specialties before the season winds down.

• 2nd Friday in Ambler returns Friday, September 11, 2026, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Downtown Butler Avenue fills with pop-up specials, live music, and friendly faces on a warm September evening.

• On Saturday, September 12, 2026, Ambler Main Street hosts Dog Days of Ambler, a full day of downtown fun with vendors, activities, and lots of community spirit.

• When Halloween rolls around, the Ambler Halloween Spooktacular Extravaganza brings kids' trick-or-treating and pumpkin decorating to the Ambler Theater event space (108 East Butler Avenue) in late October. Watch amblermainstreet.org as the date gets closer.

• The Ambler dining scene keeps growing: Porter, an upscale American restaurant, and Gaslight, a cocktail bar with small plates, opened this year in the former Gypsy Blu space at 34 East Butler Avenue, and a new Mediterranean restaurant is planned for the former Dettera space on East Butler. Recent neighborhood favorites include La Baja on North Main Street and Comfort at Ambler Yards.

• Maple Acres Farm Market (2656 Narcissa Road), a Plymouth Meeting institution since 1912, is in full fall mode with pumpkins, hayrides, tractor rides, and fresh-from-the-oven pies. Seasonal event dates are posted at mapleacresfarmmarket.com as they are announced.

• The Greater Plymouth Community Center (2910 Jolly Road) anchors year-round recreation with fitness classes, youth programs, and special community events. Check the GPCC events page for new fall offerings as they are posted.

• Plymouth Township continues its review of the proposed data-center special exception, with the Zoning Hearing Board's evidentiary hearings resuming Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Plymouth Township Municipal Building (700 Belvoir Road).

• Around town: weeknight traffic shifts are scheduled on Ridge Pike for drainage improvements over the next few weeks, and the township's draft Capital Improvement Plan for 2027 through 2031 is open for public review at plymouthtownship.org.

• Mark your calendar for the borough's annual Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Mary Wood Park House on East Fifth Avenue. Costume contest registration opens at 3:00 PM, with the parade rolling from about 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

• Dining news: Rick's Tavern opened on West Seventh Avenue this spring with an Italian-leaning menu from chef Derek Davis, backed by the owners of Guppy's. It is a welcome addition to Conshy's dining scene.

• Big things are brewing: Buc-ee's is reportedly eyeing Conshohocken for its first Philadelphia-area travel center near the I-76/I-476 interchange, and the new Public Safety Facility that will house both fire departments and EMS is moving through the development process.

• The Bryn Mawr Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM year-round at the train station lot on Lancaster Avenue. Through September and October it is the spot to gather the last of the season's produce from local farms.

• The Bryn Mawr Twilight Concert Series keeps the gazebo stage (9 South Bryn Mawr Avenue) busy this month: David Wilcox with Lucy Kaplansky play Sunday, September 6, and guitarist Mdou Moctar performs solo on Friday, September 11. Bring a lawn chair and a picnic.

• The Clover Market's fall edition returns to downtown Bryn Mawr on Sunday, October 4, 2026. It is free, dog-friendly, and full of vintage finds and handmade goods, with live music from noon and kids' crafts from The Handwork Studio.

• Dining news: The Buttery opened a Bryn Mawr location on Lancaster Avenue in June and celebrates a third outpost at the Ardmore Farmers Market inside Suburban Square on Sunday, October 4.

• News from borough hall: council has been debating lifting minimum parking requirements in the business district, and Discover Lansdale and the borough launched a downtown feedback survey to help shape the year ahead.

• North Wales Community Day returns Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM along Main Street and at Weingartner Park. It is the borough's biggest day of the year: more than 100 vendors and crafters, food trucks, a beer garden, live music, and a free Kids Zone from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

• The Upper Gwynedd Township Carnival rolls into Parkside Place (1 Parkside Place) Thursday, September 10 through Sunday, September 13, 2026, with rides, games, food, and music at the DeBarth Amphitheater area.

• The Montgomery Township Autumn Festival is set for Saturday, October 17, 2026, from noon to 5:00 PM at William F. Maule Park at Windlestrae (1147 Kenas Road), with musical entertainment, food vendors, and family activities.

• The North Wales Farmers Market continues every Sunday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Summit Street between 4th and 2nd Streets through October, a great place to gather seasonal produce and artisanal goods.

• Fall is also the ideal season to walk the Green Ribbon Trail, which starts right at Parkside Place and follows the Wissahickon Creek. October color comes standard.

• Lower Gwynedd's Fall Fest returns Saturday, September 19, 2026, on Houston Road in the Spring House section (the road closes between Dager Road and Knight Road for the event). Expect more than 100 vendors, food trucks, kids' amusements, and live music.

• New on the township calendar this fall: a Pumpkin Carving Contest organized through Lower Gwynedd Parks and Recreation. Watch lowergwynedd.org/programs for the date and location as details are finalized.

• Just across the line in Ambler, the Ambler Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 9:00 AM to noon through October 31, close enough to feel like Lower Gwynedd's own neighborhood market.

• The Spring House Market on Bethlehem Pike is a handy farm-market-style stop for seasonal produce, deli items, and grocery staples without leaving town.

• With Fort Washington State Park, the Green Ribbon Trail, and the Gwynedd Wildlife Preserve all close by, October is a glorious month for a hike. The preserve's meadows and trails are free and open from dawn to dusk.

• The Holy Martyrs Fall Carnival returns to Holy Martyrs Church (120 Allison Road) from Tuesday, September 22 through Saturday, September 26, 2026, with games, food, rides, and family fun to kick off the season.

• Trail lovers take note: Upper Merion and the King of Prussia District secured $629,375 in state grants for trail projects, including a new Moore Road Trout Creek pedestrian bridge that will make the area even easier to explore.

• Abington Fest returns Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4, 2026.
